More People are Listening to the Radio at Work in Winter
Riga, March 3, 2009 - TNS Latvia, media, marketing and social research agency has summarised the results of the regular radio audience survey National Media Research: Radio, Winter 2009.
Listening to the radio in Latvia
According to the results of the radio audience survey carried out during the winter period 2009, 76 % of Latvian population at the age of 12 to 74 have been listening to the radio at least once a week. 59 % of Latvian population in the surveyed target group have been listening to the radio more regularly – at least once a day. When compared to autumn 2008, the number of radio listeners has remained unchanged.
The survey results show that in winter 2009, listeners have spent more time on listening to the radio. On average, each radio listener has been listening to the radio for 288 minutes or 4 hours and 48 minutes a day, which is by 22 minutes a day more when compared to autumn 2008.
During the winter period 2009, Latvijas Radio 2, a national radio station was the most popular throughout Latvia . When comparing radio stations on the basis of time spent on listening, Latvijas Radio 1 ranks second, and is followed by Radio Skonto and Latvijas Radio 4 which rank third and fourth correspondingly.

About the survey
National Media Research: Radio, Winter 2009 was carried out during the time period between 3 November 2008 and 8 February 2009. Throughout Latvia, radio diaries were filled in for a week by 2,138 respondents – Latvian residents at the age of 12 to 74.
