Advertising market volume in Latvian mass media during the first half of year 2006
02.08.2006.TNS Latvia, media, market and public opinion research agency owned by one of the world’s leading market information groups - TNS, has gathered the results of the first half of year 2006 in the television and press advertising market. During this time frame, both in television and in press a rapid advertising volume increase was observed.
The advertising volume in printed press of ad area in square centimeters in comparison with the first half of year 2005 has increased by 10 % . Correspondently, during the first half of year 2006 13,0 million square centimeters were registered, however during the first half of year 2005 – 11,8 million square centimeters of advertisement area.
During the first half of this year, 92 372 cases of advertisements were registered, which is only slightly less than during the first half of year 2005, when the AdEx register of TNS Latvia was supplemented with 92 523 advertisements.
The largest advertisers (considering the ad area by cm2) during the first half of this year have been LMT, Parex, VP Market, Tele2, Bite, DNB Nord, Elcor, Hansabanka, High Technologies, Samsung Electronics. The most advertised brands in the press – Parex, Maxima, and LMT.
On television, compared to the first half of last year, the advertising volume of commercial time in minutes has increased by 35 %. During the first half of this year, 12,4 million seconds of commercials have been broadcasted on television, however during the first half of year 2005 – 9,1 million of advertising seconds.
Number of spots occurrences during the first half of year 2006 reached 518 728 commercials , which in comparison with the first half of last year is by 35 % more (during year 2005, 385 013 spots were registered).
During the first half of this year, the most active advertisers of advertisement volume in minutes were Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Tele2, Colgate-Palmolive, Coca-Cola HBC, L’oreal, Unilever, LMT, Bite and Masterfoods. The most advertised brands were – Vanish, Zelta Zivtina, Colgate.
