Latvian media advertising market grew 14% in 2001

22.02.2002.Based on TNS BMF Advertising Expenditure Survey (Adex), the Latvian media market capacity of 2001 was 34,1 millions Ls – that is 14% more than in 2000. The biggest share of media advertising market belonged to press – newspapers 37,1% and magazines 10,2 %. It was followed by TV with 33,6%, radio – 12,6%, outdoor – 5%, cinema – 0,7 % and Internet – 0,9%. Highest growth rate has Internet advertisement – +235%.

Advertising growth rates per months was influenced (in February and March) by municipal election. The cooling of economy and advertising market of the last quarter was predicted right after the September 11th terrorist attack in USA.

Biggest advertisers were – Colgate-Palmolive, Procter & Gamble, Elcor, LMT, Coca-Cola, Tele2, Lattelekom, Kraft Foods, LNT, Unilever .
